In a groundbreaking development for the film industry, Barcelona is now home to Europe's deepest indoor water tank for underwater shoots. This innovative facility, brought to life by the visionary team at INEXTREMIS SFX, marks a significant milestone for the city’s cinematic landscape.

This state-of-the-art studio is not just the deepest in Europe but also offers filmmakers unparalleled opportunities for a wide range of underwater scenes. With a staggering depth of 10 meters, this water tank sets a new standard for underwater filming in Europe.

Spanning an impressive 900 square meters, the water tank is meticulously designed to meet the needs of high-end productions. The main basin measures 20 meters in length and 15 meters in width, with a depth of 5 meters. At the center of this basin lies an additional, deeper section, measuring 9 meters by 6 meters, with a depth of 10 meters, providing a total water volume of 2,250 cubic meters.

The facility is equipped with a 1m x 1m director’s viewing window made of optic glass, allowing for seamless shooting across the tank from an easily accessible, air-conditioned room. For ease of production logistics, the studio features elephant doors for truck access, and a bridge crane with a lifting capacity of 3.5 tons for moving props and sets.

To ensure optimal conditions for filming, the tank includes a special heating system capable of warming the water up to 30 degrees Celsius. A cutting-edge UV filtration system minimizes chlorine usage, while a double filtering system guarantees crystal-clear water. The facility also boasts a skimming system that removes any debris from the water’s surface. Both the pool and the surrounding warehouse are finished in matte black, eliminating reflections and enhancing the visual quality of underwater shots.

For comfort and convenience, the studio offers a VIP changing room complete with heating, a private toilet, and a shower. Additionally, there is a 56-square-meter production room on the top floor, equipped with a toilet, providing a comfortable and functional space for production teams.

This extraordinary new facility is now fully operational and ready to host all types of underwater productions. We invite filmmakers and production teams to explore the studio’s capabilities and see firsthand the incredible opportunities it offers for creating stunning underwater scenes.
